Industrial beam positioning system for laser welding
The Scan Tracker is an industrial beam positioning system for laser welding in which the laser beam is set into a rapid oscillating motion (wobbling). The optimized mirror shape allows a high wobble frequency of over 500 Hz even with an aperture of 48 mm. A vision system detects the location and direction of the weld seam (tracking). The oscillating motion of the laser beam overlays the seam, which allows a variable “beam width” and optimization of the weld seam geometry. The control signal for the oscillating motion is generated within the scan head. The amplitude and midpoint of the wobble movement is set via two external analog signals.
